BODY READING COURSE
This Workshop includes:
How the meridians can hold a postural pattern and be influenced by skeletal alignment,
Concentric and eccentric loading and the forces that shape our body,
Basic functional assessments to see what is moving, what isn’t and what may be moving too much!
How a local restriction can have a global impact,
How to document your findings.
Body Reading 101 | 9 November 2019
First day of workshop explores relational anatomy and helps build your seeing and palpation skills to determine skeletal patterns and how they interact in the body. Learn the language of BodyReading, tilt, bend, shift and rotate to accurately describe the geometry of the body in a way your client can understand. Assess common postural patterns in all planes of motion. Skills learned today can be immediately used with your clients tomorrow. This is a must for any practitioner in movement and bodywork and will help take your practice to the next level.
Body Reading102 | 10 November 2019
Now you are able to see and describe bony relationships learn about the interrelationships between the Anatomy Trains and the skeleton. The Anatomy Trains lines of pull and force transmission are impacted by skeletal alignment and can also hold the bony alignment in place for better or worse.

9 November 2019 | Timeline: 7.5 hour Workshop 9:00AM - 5:30PM
9:00 - 9:15 Welcome and introduction to the course
9:15 - 10:15 Define relational anatomy and how it varies from traditional plumb line assessment, history and the terms bend, tilt, shift and rotate. Experiential: Simon says exercise.
10:15 - 10:30 Break
10:30-10:45 Self palpation and paired palpation of boney landmarks
10:45 - 11:30 Guided BodyReading:
Tilts and shifts in the frontal plane Feet, legs and pelvis. First impressions and 3 positive things. Lecture, group practice and partner practice.
11:30 - 12:30 Tilts, shifts and bends in the sagittal plane feet, legs, pelvis, spine and head identify and what is long and short. Tilts, shifts in the sagittal plane group and partner BR.
12:30 - 1:30 Lunch
1:30 - 1:45 Frontal plane torso and pelvis. Assess one person then caterpillar.
1:45 - 2:45 Legs: Patterns, X, O , A, II lines. Assess several people. Mid and forefoot tilts. Have several people come up to be read. Heel foot to forefoot ratio. Demo and practice. Use markers to find the landmarks.
2:45 - 3:15 Transverse plane relationships. Rotations of legs, pelvis, torso. Breathing down their neck.
3:15 - 3:30 Break
3:30 - 3:45 Head and neck
3:45 - 4:15 Scapula roof/cliff, shifts, rotations BR, can do caterpillar, group read
4:15 - 4:45 BodyRead one person as a whole front side and back, using BR chart to notate
4:45 - 5:15 Try on a posture exercise may also choose to preview moving in a postural pattern:
How would you address the postural findings in a session. Examples: One movement, one bodywork depending on the group. This is a good option if this is a one day course to enable people to see how they can apply the information to their practice. It is also a segue to 102 where we start looking at movement.
Optional activity: Become a Human Tensegrity.
5:15 - 5:30 What’s next? Questions, evals and certificates.
Day 2 - Body Reading 102
